The idea has appeal.  But I'd like to point out that there's nothing
stopping bikers from a Grand Round bike tour on their own.  You can do
it on the parkways if you're comfortable in traffic, or on the bike
paths if you have younger children.  The route I take measures about 32
miles.  Highlights include speeding down Victory Parkway, stopping to
see if the duck has nested again by the memorial flagpole near Mike
Opat's house, topping the lowest-gear hill in Northeast (assuming you're
going clockwise; otherwise it's a screaming downhill) and the DQ on
Minnehaha Av.  I had a neighbor, now since moved to Colorado, who used
to do it almost every warm-weather Saturday.
