Yes, Mr. Mork is correct in that Congress just gave themselves a raise. Actually, it was the House of Representatives and the Senate is soon to follow suit. Guess how much they gave themselves? It went from around $132,000 per year to around $158,000 per year. That's right, about a $26,000 PER YEAR raise. They sited "cost of living" adjustments since they haven't given themselves a raise in ten years. Did your expenses go up $26,000 per year from 1993? And if so, did your employer give you a $26,000 per year raise to "adjust" for that cost?

As for the teachers, one point to be made is that while wages freeze, health care cost and primiums go up every year. If Congress needs to adjust thier wages so they don't have to choose between food and a mortgage payment, maybe teachers need a raise too.
