I have read two articles by Doug Growe recently where he berates the tedium of following established protocol related to Kingfield's NRP steering committee.
He is referring to the mural on a dry cleaner shop in Kingfield that was paid for by NRP money- he said it cost $1,500 to paint.
I have seen the mural. It is lovely.
But back to Mr. Growe's impatience with following protocol.
He now reports - in his column today- that the time was not taken to do a bit of common sense checking. Turns out that the person who gave permission to have the mural painted on the wall of that business was not the owner of the business. The owner does not want the mural there.
Now,Growe seems just generally frustrated about what he seems to think is the unfairness of this situation.
And he still bashes following process and protocol as a bad thing.
In this case, it would seem just a bit of common sense to make sure that before you give out money for a mural, make sure you have the right person's permission to put it there.
Now $1,500 dollars is down the tubes. There are plenty of shelters, food shelves, that could have used that money and put it to good use.
But then again, perhaps there is no protocol for giving money for those needs.
