Does anyone here see the latest proposal for a new downtown stadium(s) as a masked attempt at getting rid of the incinerator?My map reading is just a little bit different. I don't think there is any intention of moving or removing the incinerator.
I looked at Mapquest to see just how much would have to be destroyed to make way for this latest proposal, and all I could see were lots of parking lots, and the incinerator.
I do admit it's darn hard to tell just where they mean to put everything from the vague little drawing in the article.
I see the proposal as wrapping around the incinerator on 2 sides, including the proverbial mixed use housing on the southern property line of the incinerator. Having spent a year parking in one of the surface lots "under" the planned Twins stadium, I can't imagine anyone in their sane mind wanting to actually LIVE there. It's noisy, stinky and hey, you get to breath air polluted with heavy metals and other assorted things.
