Minneapolis as the world's 5th cleanest city? That's hard to believe. I walk into work every day on north 3rd or 4th streets and often have to slog through the litter. Last year a broken copy machine sat on the sidewalk for a month until I got tired of it and called Public Works to pick the thing up. It's an embarrassment as well to drive the freeways near downtown; the weeds can only hide so many of the plastic bags and other garbage there. I can think of two ways to change this situation:
1. Hold companies, stores, apartment buildings, etc., responsible for picking up the trash on the sidewalks outside their properties. 2. Have inmates in the county adult and juvenile detention centers or other correctional facilities pick up the garbage on the sides of the freeways. Consider this just a couple of ideas to make this city better, which won't involve the spending of public dollars. Jeff Radford Kingfield __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
