Vicky, please put away the hatchet. Remember the wise carpenter's advice, "measure twice, cut once". First we need to get some decent measurements of our city and it's problems. The school enrollment has been falling for 5 years now, why were we citizens not warned earlier? Is it possible that our school district's own statistics are so bad they didn't note the slipping student count themselves? Or have they been hiding these scary statistics from us?

I continue to be amazed that our city is not collecting and providing up to date measures of civic health such as population, pension liability, property values, etc.. I and I'm sure most citizens would prefer a little bad news now rather than being told by the 2010 census that our population has slipped below 300,000, our workforce participation below 50%, and over 10% of our housing units are vacant.
