Right now I have one (son) in high school, DeLaSalle and just graduated
one from same last year, she is at Drake U in Des Moines. We had
considered public school for both kids but chose private school because
my kids were not allowed to attend school in their neighborhood, they
would be bused across town to the northside.Spending 4 hours a day on a
bus was not our idea of good use of time or resources.Even though there
were openings at Ann Sullivan (3blocks away) my kids were not allowed
this as one of our school choices.

[TB] I'm the first to admit that I don't follow all of the goings on in
the schools as closely as I would if I had a school age kid. But, 4
hours on a bus? You'd need to play a little fast and loose with the
speed limits but you could nearly comute to Drake in that amount of
time.

How does any school administrator justify 4 hours on a bus? Even 2
hours? You certainly can't do anything productive in that time.

What is the reason one can't enroll in a school 3 blocks from home?
That doesn't make sense anytime, but when the school has openings?

Seems that somebody could manage the place just a little bit better.
Probably wouldn't even take a degree in education.
