The Councilmembers are protecting their own interests -- none of them wants to run another campaign until necessary. And the state legislature has bigger fish to fry than Minneapolis elections. Kahn's position doesn't carry much weight as far as I can see, except as an attack on the Green minority. I wish the Council would take care of the term discrepancies itself -- I think it needs to be done -- but Kahn's tactics are way over the top in proportion to the severity of the problem (especially compared to far more serious attacks presently being waged on the Constitution).
