Eric says: While I can't speak to the merits of Mr. McManus, I will report that I recently attended a large cross-cultural discussion on race in Minneapolis where I was at the same table (and discussion group) as Sharon Lubinski. I can tell you that, in my opinion, on a personal level at least, Ms. Lubinski "gets it" with respect to institutional racism, racial profiling, and the issues that the MPD faces in those areas. Whether that knowledge would translate to reform under her administration, I can't say. She was certainly more aware than most city employees I have had the opportunity to talk to on the subject.

Eric says: Questioning why the "white guy" gets the job over qualified women, one of whom is openly gay, and people of color is good, and I would argue, necessary, in a city which values diversity - especially when it's a "white guy" offering it to him.
