I missed Mr. Atherton's post original post in this
thread, but I think I have the gist of it based upon
subsequent messages.  

I have to concur with Paul Rohlfing about the nature
of the IB curriculum.  I am myself a graduate of the
Anwatin pre-IB program, and I continued on in the IB
magnet at Southwest for two years, though I ended up
transferring to Visitation in my junior year. (Mom got
re-married and we moved to the 'burbs.)

My IB experience was generally a good one, and it was,
as Mr. Rohlfing stated, a fairly rigorous curriculum. 
I recall that during my high school days (I am in the
class of '96) the IB program was often confused with
the International Studies magnet at Washburn.  Perhaps
that is partially responsible for the
mis-classification of IB as "international" in this
discussion.
