I agree with Margaret that it is the responsibility of our elected
representatives to come up with solutions. However, if want a particular
solution implemented, we have a responsibility to offer that solution to
them. To be clear on this, we are not off the hook just because we elected
someone to represent us.

Possibly Mayor Rybak is responding to his constituents. Before he was
elected, I expressed my opinion to him that the focus of NRP ought to not
to be on homelessness and affordable housing. At the time of his
campaigning, there were calls for spending a greater percentage of NRP
funds on affordable housing. The calls have changed from more NRP money to
greater City involvement, but, I still believe that homelessness is a
regional problem that is too large for the City of Minneapolis to handle
by itself. Instead, the City of Minneapolis should focus on providing
basic services to its citizens (which does not include funding a stadium
for the Twins or Vikings)
