About the only valid point in Ms. Heller's post was concerning the demonic increase in gas-based utilities, but that has nothing to do with the City of Minneapolis.

I have found, anectodally from friends living around the country that Minneapolis is expensive compared to other cities our size, but we also have amenities available here (arts, education, parks, world-class entertainment, health, cleanliness, etc.) that cities twice our size are hard pressed to provide.

Minneapolis is not Shangri-La but it sure as heck isn't Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, Houston, San Antonio, Tuscon, Pittsburgh, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

When have utility rates increased? Taxes were cut and
now are rising again but still are reasonable. I have
no idea what a good insurance rate is but mine is much
less than $100 a month. Interest rates are at
historic lows and people have been saying for a couple
of years now they are going to rise above the 7% it
was 6 years ago only that hasn't happened. Exactly
what is your point? If you buy now and lock in 5.5%
the interest rate can climb to 50% and you don't pay
any more but you might not see a lot of equity either.

my water/sewer bill is the same as my parents is in St. Paul give or take $5 when they include what they pay for private garbage hauling.

I am not sure what you are getting at but I find
minneapolis to be very affordable and I am very happy
I decided to migrate here. I am sure you know that is
hard to admit seeing I was born and raised on the east
side of St. Paul.
