And to echo what Wally Swan, President of the Mpls Board of Estimate & Taxation told me last weekend, San Francisco is collecting about $80,000/day in extra marriage license fees from the City Clerks office. Or about 2 years worth of their normal license income in just the past few days. To say nothing of the extra hotel rooms rented, meals eaten in city restaurants, etc. Quite a mini-economic boom for San Francisco.


Think what Minneapolis could do with an extra $80,000/day income. Have libraries open more than half the day. Close a few less schools. Actually snow plow the alleys. Etc.
