David Strom: "We need to find a way to help low-income workers become less dependent upon government-run transportation, opening up to them the thousands of jobs available around the Twin Cities. Who among the working poor wouldn't rather have a car than depend upon the government to provide their transportation?"

This is typical of the ill logic that spews forth from Mr. Strom and his cronies at the taxpayers league. That group of wealthy tax evaders has every Republican running scared with there "no tax increase" pledge. Thanks to the (rich) Taxpayers League's refusal to release their legislators from that pledge and increase the gas tax for the first time since the 1980s, Minnesota has lost millions of federal transportation dollars because we couldn't come up with the matching funds. Having wasted a few hundred million of we taxpayers dollars there, it is no surprise that the (rich) Taxpayers League is more than willing to leave a billion dollar transit system to rot.
