While I believe in the rights of the struggling worker, I also believe in the rights and fairness of the poor, seniors and children. This bus strike in the beginning was about the rights of workers, whose job it is to penalize those that are in power. However, those being affected are those that dont have anything at all to do with giving up what the workers are needing to live a fair and decent way. Those that are caught up in this mess are the innocent, the working poor, and other union workers who cannot get to their own jobs, the children and the seniors. In Hawthorne alone, halting bus service is practically starving some, and costing others jobs, leaving them to be evicted. Both New Market stores are gone, and Cub wont open until the summer. Most were catching the bus to go to Rainbow, now they have to walk to the corner store homies that could care less about the social condition s and well being of our community. Making a fast buck on those that cannot afford the prices of seriously outdated foods and formula. I dont understand this mess, we say want to help the community; we say that we want to give a chance, but who is really getting all chances??
What do people think is going to happen when folks cannot got to work?? Young folks cannot get a job due to lack of transportationHey, they need things to. Or what about the young mother who cant get to work, Broadway is there and the john are plentiful, I know, this is the population of people I work with, and starting to see this already..
Where are those so-called gate-keepers that seemed to be at every meeting involving money and CNN, CSPAN, why arent they speaking up in the communitys time of trouble? Please, let me answer this, its because there is no glamour, no money and nothing for themselvesNAACP, where ya at!!!!!!!!!!!! And where are the other self appointed leaders of the community??? You all should be ashamed of yourselves, and I hope the community finally stands up and see you all for what you truly are, and that indeed we the community have been sold to the highest bidder
