I appreciate this letter being posted. I found it interesting that Booker Hodges was so quick to condemn Brett Buckner, someone he claims he looked up to, because of a simple accusatory letter. Having worked myself for a non-profit (consultant with Citizens for a Better Environment), I've seen this kind of issue between local branches and national/regional offices before.
Except in the case I saw, it was the regional office was planting reasons to get rid of staff at a local branch that they no longer wanted around. With CBE, the issue was that the local branch was essentially propping up the regional office through it's fundraising efforts and not seeing any benefit from it, so the local staff were considering secession from the region and starting their own organization. I have no idea what the real issue could be between Mr. Breeding and Brett, but unlike Booker, I'm not so quick to jump to conclusions that Brett screwed up. I see it being just as likely that perhaps Mr. Breeding or someone else in the NAACP national office screwed something up and is now trying to cover tracks or shift the blame. I say that because I've known Brett for close to 20 years. He's always been a straight shooter. I have a lot of respect for him because he willingly takes on challenges where most people would just walk away. He's a good man and a good friend and when he has an issue with someone, he addresses it with that person instead of trying to start a smear campaign on a local electronic discussion forum. By the way, Booker - I couldn't help but notice that there's no mention of you at all in any of my North High yearbooks from when I attended there with Brett. When exactly did you go there?
