If running a smoke free bar is so desired why hasn't just one bar enacted its own rule and designated its place non-smoking and advertise it, attracting the non-smoking, pro-ban crowd?

Actually, there are a few (not enough mind you) smoke-free bars in Minneapolis. Jetset is a successful bar in the warehouse district (next to Alliance Francais) that has been smoke-free since it opened.

Data from similar large cities to Minneapolis support that restaurant and bar revenue has, on average, remained the same or increased since implementing smoking bans.

As a non-smoker who has gone clubbing in Los Angeles, it is a treat to come home from a night of dancing not smelling of soot.
