Looking forward to Steve Brandt's piece but also further member reports.
What was the vote on the amendment to undo city conventions (roughly, if not
exactly)?
Voice vote--my guess would be 3-to-1 against, but that's an incredibly rough estimate. Before knowing how it would turn out, I attempted to add the caveat that if it passed, we would still have next year's caucuses. However, speakers on each side had already finished, so the concept of amending the amendment was ruled as out of order at that time.
What were the arguments against endorsing incumbents Shapiro and Henry-Blythe (if any were made)?
There were not truly arguments against their endorsement. The fourth ballot would have been between Schapiro and Jibrell, but a quorum call prevented the fourth ballot. A large number of people cast their votes on the third ballot and then left the convention. Schapiro announced that he was withdrawing just before the fourth ballot, immediately preceding the quorum call.
Did any non-endorsed candidate say they would drop out - or does the fact
that the DFL endorsed for only two of the three seats give those who
declared they would abide by endorsement an "out" to go to the primary?
That was never made clear. No candidates actually answered the question as to whether or not they would run if not endorsed--only whetehr or not they would run against an endorsed candidate. In theory, this means that any candidate might consider the lack of a third endorsement to indicate an 'out' to got to the primary.
By the way, how long did the convention take?
We adjourned at approximately 3:30 p.m.
I hope that helps to fill in the gaps for those who did not attend, but I'm sure that Steve Brandt's article will provide even further detail.
