Did any non-endorsed candidate say they would drop out - or does the fact that the DFL endorsed for only two of the three seats give those who declared they would abide by endorsement an "out" to go to the primary?
That was never made clear. No candidates actually answered the question as to whether or not they would run if not endorsed--only whetehr or not they would run against an endorsed candidate. In theory, this means that any candidate might consider the lack of a third endorsement to indicate an 'out' to got to the primary.

I was at the convention. All of the candidates responded "no" that they would not run against the endorsed candidates except Denny Shapiro.
That is true. However, because only two were endorsed, there is a third position on the School Board that will be elected that does not have an endorsed candidate. Even though the seats are not elected separately, some candidates could say that they were running for the third spot, which technically has no endorsee.
It's definitely a gray area, but the question the candidates answered was whether or not they would run against an endorsed candidate. They did not answer the similar, but different, question as to whether or not they would run without the endorsement.
