"Isn't it wonderfual that an event dedicated to an
ACTUAL opening of a new avenue to promote unity and
peace among our diverse populations and
neighborhoods gets pre-empted by a news piece about a
highly devisive POTENTIAL action the police department
may be contractually obligated to take.

I wonder if the irony ever sunk in at good ole 'CCO. "

No one is ever happy with news coverage. I attended a
very informative panel discussion with members of the
media, including our list manager David Brauer,
sponsored by the University of St. Thomas.

The message that the media types had for people who
were not happy with news coverage, or the lack of it,
for their particular cause was: get over it.

The majority of people who buy newspapers and watch
the news are in the suburbs now. I think the
statistic was only 18% of Star Tribune readers live in
Minneapolis.

We can't sit around and wait for the media to put the
correct spin on our pet issue. We need to go out and
make and report the news ourselves. Which is a plug
for this forum and others like it.
