Way out left. It's Thursday night, and Ralph Nader's people are holding their
weekly huddle to plot their man's crusade for the White House. About 20
members of Nader 2004 MN gather at the Painter Park recreation center in
Minneapolis and kick around ideas about phone banks and literature drops and campaign
slogans.

"I think my support of Nader will cost me the endorsement of the Green
party," says Mann, a Minneapolis school board candidate. "But what the hell." -- Way
out left

[Comment by Doug Mann] In 2002 I received a bare majority of the vote for the
school board endorsement at the Green Party endorsing conventions before and
after the primary election. Supporters of board member Judy Farmer (e.g.,
Annie Young) and DFL endorsed candidate Joseph Erickson were opposed to my
endorsement.

As a Nader supporter I am in a small minority of people who have recently
attended Green Party meetings. And support for my campaign within the Green Party
was strong among those now supporting Nader and weak among those who are
currently in the Anybody But Bush or Nader crowd. I attended Greens for Nader
meetings in 2000 and have attended 5th district Green Party membership meetings
since early 2001.
