In advance of the line being open to the airport and MOA, why not stimulate
ridership and encourage the maximum number of people to check the trains out
by making all trips free within the Downtown area -- say, from the Warehouse
District to the Metrodome? Also, perhaps on weekends this free ride zone
could be extended to the Franklin Ave station, which is a short walk from
The Cabooze and adjacent nightspots. This weekend free ride could be
promoted as linking three major entertainment areas: the Warehouse District,
the West Bank/U of M, and the Cabooze/Joint/Whiskey Junction area. This
would have the added beneficial effect of encouraging young student revelers
to leave their cars at home when going out for a night of partying, thus
reducing traffic congestion in the downtown area and taking off the streets
a few drivers who are probably well over the legal limit for driving!
