Yes, the disingenuousness of some policymakers can be quite remarkable.

That said, when a special session is called, all issues are fair game and
that's why folks are so skittish about having one called. Terrible mischief
can be wreaked unless a very strong agreement is struck between warring
parties prior to calling one.

If the LGA fix could have been made by executive fiat all along, the cities
could have escaped the politics of gay marriage to attain greater solvency.
Minneapolis and St. Paul have no friend in this governor.

While I'm on my second post of the day, I want to once again thank the
Minneapolis City Council for its strong stand on smoking and to thanks Chris
Johnson and Nathan Hunstad for their wise retorts as to government's role in
regulating public health. Some commentators - too many, in my view - would
disband government altogether - even as they enjoy the fruits of regulation
and enforcement of health and safety standards now extant.
