Now if only the good people of Minneapolis would recognize that Pawlenty did
something for them that the state DFL legislative leadership did not deem
important enough for a special session. I won't hold my breath. Sigh.

Me:

Actually, Pawlenty clearly bluffed (some would call it a lie). He said he
needed the legislature, and clearly didn't (judging by today's action).

I don't think we should reward anyone for playing such a game.

That said, the issue isn't whether there should be a special session, but
what, if any limits there should be. (Both sides have made proposals, and
rejected proposals.) THAT, however, is a subject for another forum.

Pawlenty's bonding bill proposals were clearly of the "screw Minneapolis" variety. Otherwise why did his bonding proposal strongly support the Minnesota Zoo, while deep sixing the Minneapolis Planetarium. The only Minneapolis project Pawlenty supported was the Urban Ventures sponsored Colin Powell Youth Center - which he was pushing because it was being pushed by an evangelical ministry. Urban Ventures has a history of undermining Jewish parents who will send their kids to play soccer only to find out that UV has been proseletizing.

The 58th District Republicans passed a resolution opposing bonding funding for Urban Ventures.

It sounds like both DFL leadership - and Republican leadership opposed the latest "deal" offered by Sviggum.

Saying creationism deserves equal time with the theory of evolution in the classroom is like saying I deserve equal time with Pavarotti at the Sydney Opera House.
