"My feeling is that those opposed to transit have not spent extensive periods of time in cities with excellent transit options. Life could be so much better."
Who said anyone was "opposed" to transit?? I am not nor ever have been opposed to transit. And the point that people have to change their conceptions or misconceptions about the bus riding is in my mind, saying people have to value "third" parties in our political arena. Of course, the world would be fantastic if we did both, and we have to start somewhere. However that's not related to my original issue, being; Minneapolis homeowners are losing their neighborhoods and streets to LRT riders. I am a person who even has a garage, and still see why this was a horrible failure on the part of Metro Transit. I am not sure why in the gigantic PR campaign, all the booths like at the Midtown Market; why Metro Transit did not really inform people that buses or the lame parking lot conveniently located at Ft. Snelling were the preferred method of riding the LRT. That's what griped me the worst, is from the beginning-they never have really cared about the neighborhoods, or the impact it had, and is having. From the intense vibration and structural damage it did to many of our homes, to now the impact of the parking; I am convinced it was a careless and intentionally reckless project. I am interested in seeing some relief in the parking scenario, and some re-education on informing people they should take buses-it will never make up for the permanent damage to all the windows in my house, or the splitting of my hardwood floors, or the cracks in ceilings; but hey; now people can park in front of my house and go to a sports game for $1.50.
