Greg is correct, actually there does not seem to be any who was right and
who was wrong. The Doctor was completely within his right to await a
written order, after all that is what is called "process". Anyone can make
a call. What would have happened if it had not been a judge who was
calling? The police were also within their right to make the arrest.

Of course Greg is also correct that the likelihood of something actually
happening to a Doctor with his resources in this situation are remote to say
the best. What has happened is a few tin gods getting their authority
challenged and each acting like the "Authority" each usually expects others
to regard them as. These description would seem to be including Doctors,
Judges, and Police. Not that there are not wonderful, humble examples of
each profession doing admirable jobs without the benefit of any pedestal at
all. I believe that is why we, with our laws, demand to have the due in
"Due process".

It actually is rather comical to one who is standing on the outside of
farce. Of course having someone challenging authority is good for each and
everyone of these three professions; it helps burnish some of the shine off
of the old halos.
