I think Terrell is wrong here. A doctor or anyone has to obey the law, if that conflicts with their agency policy manual, well then the policy manual better be changed. The judge issued a legal order, the police asked for a reasonable request under the law. The Dr should be prosecuted and punished for impeding the investigation.
This has nothing to do with Chief McManus wanting to run the hospital, only that the hospital comply with the law. Dr's are not above reproach and should not think that they are. It was not out of control cops, it was an out of control Dr. who thought he was not bound by law. It's hard enough to investigate crimes with uncooperative victims and witness, let alone having uncooperative Dr's that won't follow the law. The hard copy of the warrant did not come through until 9 am, according the story. The story also says that the judge actually talked to the Dr and told the Dr she was ordering the blood draw. Still the Dr chose to ignore the judicial order. This time the police were correct and hopefully a successful prosecution of the Dr will come, but my suspicion is that it will go away and no punishment will come for the Dr. Too bad on that. By the way there was no Berlin Wall around the Hyatt. The protestors were given too much latitude to roam freely around until the police had to act. Chief Olson's mistake was not keeping things more in line at the ISAG event. He tried to go soft and it got out of control. I was there and saw protestors hiding hockey sticks in bushes around the event, probably to be used against the police later. I took the ones I found to the police though.
