As I understand it, the Minneapolis City Council will
vote Friday on a resolution concerning voting
equipment. The resolution will urge the State to add
Instant Runoff Voting compatibility to the
requirements for new voting machines. Sounds like a
good idea to me. There has been a lot of talk about,
and interest in, IRV in recent years, so why not get
voting equipment that can handle this type of voting?
This is a timely resolution because many millions
of federal and state dollars will be spent in the
near future to purchase new voting machines for
Minneapolis and the rest of Minnesota.
