Jon writes: These percentages aren't totally accurate, because they don't include the same day registrants. In our precinct, and I think throughout the state, there were many, many new registrants. In ours, it was over 20% same day registrants. The numbers that Conor put up don't reflect those new registrants as registered voters, but they do reflect them as people who voted. This is a bit confusing, but bear with me. In my precinct, for example, we started Tuesday with 1980 registered voters. During the day, 439 new people registered and voted, and the vote total was 1641. So by the end of the day the registered voter total for the precinct was 1980 + 439, for a total of 2419. This gives us a percentage turnout of 68%, which, for a precinct that has a lot of folks move in and out of it, is pretty darned good. So, make sure you include the same day registrant numbers when you do your voting percentages. You can't do that right now from the Secretary of State's website, to the best of my knowledge, because it doesn't yet have figures for those same day registrants. According to the website, those numbers will be added by the counties by the end of next week. We'll have to wait until the end of next week to know the real numbers there. Incidentally, although our precinct machine's number was 1641, I note that the website has us at 1639. I don't know why the two vote discrepancy.
