The design of the bike lane on Hennepin Avenue, downtown, was obviously an afterthought. When I'm riding my bicycle there, I usually take the sidewalk since the bike lane is too dangerous. Keep in mind that municipal elections are coming up in 2005. Make this an issue. Like the Republican Party, the DFL Party has a long history of autocentricism, although I have to admit that Minneapolis, for all its shortcomings, is way ahead of St. Paul in accomodating bicyclists.-----Peter Schmitz, Downtown St. Paul
