Because that's how our policy is made in this nation - by majority rule - generally considered to be for the common good - unless the tyranny of the majority discriminates. The public health issues trump the discrimination issues. Period. Seriously, the resistance to protections for large groups of people because they intrude on "my" space has become a seriously dangerous epidemic in this town and nation.
