I am fascinated by the responses by Robert Goldman and Liz Wielinski. First, I have read the resumes. I do not see that either candidate has a Masters Degree in the public resumes. Maybe I missed something.
I have served on several search committees for high level public officials. Several years ago I served on a Development agency search committee. Each time the resumes were only a part of discussion. The search firms carried out preliminary interviews either in person or on the phone. Confidentiality was a major concern since the Search committee knew many of the candidates. What we found was several candidates did better in the process than anticipated by either our previous knowledge or resumes. I think that is why several Commissioners have suggested we go through the process rather than turn this into a political debate. I am surprised by the number of candidates that have withdrawn. Liz, one of the problems to attracting good candidates is the continued rancor both by the Commissioners and by "interested citizens." I do not think having a Commissioner vote against the three finalists is productive. The differences between Commissioner Dziedzic and Mason should not be a part of this Park Superintendent selection process. Yes I believe the process can work to a reasonable conclusion. I believe most of the rancor is actually counterproductive. Tony Scallon Howe Neighborhood REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
