Mr. Ecklund - in case you have forgotten...
Natalie Johnson Lee was elected as a Green Party endorsed candidate and the last I looked I was still hanging out i the Green Party. Correction - except for 3 of us. And hopefully more in 2005.

Although I find the IRV concept has a certain amount of validity, I fell it is unduly complicated for the vast majority of voters. A voter arrives at the poll to vote for the candidate of his or her choice, not the lesser of evils.

On a state wide basis, IRV is dead at the legislature. In my years of lurking the corridors of the capitol, IRV has as much interest as a voluntary root canal. Bottom line, there is no advantage for the D's or the R's to do this.

Much to the chagrin of some of my R's, I would like to return to the partisan ballot at all levels of government, except judges, who should be re or unappointed every 6 years by who ever the sitting governor may be. The partisan ballot should appeal to all anointed parties as their candidate stands in general election.

I have a bill ready to go for partisan elections and could probably get a hearing in the House, although it would never get a hearing in the Senate as there is no advantage for the D's. Minneapolis being a one cow town (except Mr. Z.) for municipal elections, except for Mayor (Hello, R.T.), when the R's, the G's, and the I's weigh in with roughly 35-40% of the vote.

Although partisan elections are wishful thinking on my part, it is generally no secret which candidate aspires to which party dictum. The voters should have a right to vote in the big show, regardless (David, I got the word right this time) of percent of strength.

Anyway, back to the orgy of food and drink, Gobble, Gobble.
