Even though I read a brief story about IT in the Star Tribune, I was not quite
prepared, to see what I saw today on Hennepin avenue.

It was cloudy. There was no sun. There never will be sun in that place
again. Instead there was a massive hovering presence casting
its ominous big dark scary shadow over all...I looked up at the heights
of the New Central Palace...and there it was....T-H-E W-I-N-G.

Some very unlibrarian like words flew upward toward T-H-E W-I-N-G
but were extinguished in its devouring pall...

In an instant I could see the headlines..."Fleet of Schoolbuses Crushed
under T-H-E W-I-N-G after a Freak Earthquake!" or

"Sunless Hennepin Near T-H-E W-I-N-G, Boosts Sales of Prozac!" or

"Hadley's Folly...Rising costs of Keeping T-H-E W-I-N-G Snow-free
Shuts down rest of Minneapolis Libraries!

A cement wing that never will fly. How excessive and ridiculous!
