Mr. Eklund might want to go up two rows from the "Office Paper and Mail"
category to where it says "Magazines & Catalogs" - I don't know about anyone
else, but the magazines and catalogs I tend to get are printed on glossy
paper. This is where I also put other glossy paper mailings that I don't
need to keep and the City of Minneapolis has been collecting them with my
other recycling for years.

What the DO NOT INCLUDE means with regards to office paper and mail is that
you don't bundle or bag glossy paper with your non-glossy mail. That's all
it means.

This isn't rocket science, folks! While it's important to know the rules,
common sense can go a long way in figuring out what can and cannot be
recycled. However, if you cannot find your copy of "Carts, Bins & Bags" and
need a refresher, please visit http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/solid-waste/

Also consider signing up for the recycling reminders. In addition to no
longer forgetting your recycling day, each one comes with "Fun Facts" like
the following:

Recycling Fun Fact: Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as is
gained by burning it in an incinerator. In 2003, Minneapolis Solid Waste and
Recycling collected 1,330 tons of plastics for recycling.

Lastly, while recycling is good, reduction is better. And for unwanted mail,
there are some ways to reduce it and I've had good success with them. To
learn how, visit http://www.moea.state.mn.us/campaign/junkmail/index.html

And to stop those unsolicited credit card offers (aka "You've been
preapproved!"), go to http://www.optoutprescreen.com

Personally, I'm not planning to recycle my copy of "Minneapolis news from
Mayor R.T. Rybak" but that's because I think it's worth hanging on to, not
because it cannot be recycled.
