The Star Tribune has named conservative Katherine Kersten as a Metro 
columnist. Kersten will write two columns a week beginning May 1. From the 
Poynter-Romenesko website: "I want to enhance the paper's capacity to speak to 
a broad 
community, to all the people of this state." Here is the link to the post:

On a related note, here is a column from today's San Francisco Chronicle 
regarding a current debate in the journalism community on lack of female voices 
on 
the op-ed pages.

"Cindy Rodriguez of the Denver Post agreed with [Susan] Estrich and referred 
to the anachronistic 'formula' in which papers see one woman and one minority
