If you have access to a computer you could try searching for your book at
www.gutenberg.org.  They've loaded 14,000 books already and are growing.  It
is fee to use.  I find a lot of information for free at http://www.loc.gov/
also.  This is the Library of Congress site.  A decent web search is likely
to turn up much of the information you're looking for in the form of
excerpts, if you have access to a computer.
