Rape is always about power. I have worked with offenders in a professional therapeutic capacity and I can tell you that what aroused every offender I have ever worked with was the power and not the sex. Also, supporting this position is the vast majority of peer reviewed literature on the subject.

From what prostitutes say (this from a study done either by Foot of the Mountain Theater or by Martha Roth, I cannot now remember which) johns are angry, very angry in some cases. Too, for thousands of years, the right to rape women has been one of the spoils of war. During the Roman era, Sula, the great general and perhaps one of the nastiest men in history, "gave" captured women to the soldiers to rape. Tales coming out of Iraq and Darfur recount more instances of rape by soldiers. So what are societies continuously teaching men?

There is no place, even inside one's own home, where men, women and children are truly safe from rape. The cops cannot change that, nor can the mayor, governor, president, pope, or the Lord High Poobah of Everything and Everyone. The word comes from the Latin and means "to steal." What the rapist tries to steal is the soul of the victim, leaving the victim an empty husk. In that sense, rape is worse than murder. After rape, recovery of the victims requires them to reconstruct their souls--their selves.

If it ain't nature, then the nurture of males predisposes males to think that it is somehow their right to rape. Since every male is not a rapist, its probably not nature.
