I know that having a convention that ends up holding people captive for over 12
hours is seriously flawed. It does not encourage participation and I have heard
from more than one person who attended for their first time that they
definitely won't be back.

I am thinking it may shrink the time dramatically if there could be two
endorsing conventions. One to endorse the "board" candidates and the second to
endorse the mayoral candidates. Placing them both on the same day strings this
process out way way too long and quite frankly did a dis-service to the "board"
candidates. On Saturday, there were board candidates who may have been
endorsed had R.T. and his delegate base not left the convention. They shouldn't
have had to suffer because of mayoral posturing.

The mayoral endorsement took center stage and the rest just seemed like filler.
That shouldn't be the case. Waiting to do the district park board endorsements
until late in the evening after people had already been there 12 hours was
horrible. People were so tired by then and those of us in the bleachers had
such sore backs that hardly anyone stayed to do it. These board positions
deserve a great deal more attention.
