In a civilized country the people depend on the police to deal with situations that might require deadly force and not depend upon "self-help." Depending on "self-help" is the rule of a primitive, and possibly not even civilized, society. Let's ban handguns -- period.
If you are in a situation where deadly force might be required to protect yourself or a loved one do you actually think that the police will be around to deal with the situation??? Of course not - the police can't (and shouldn't) be everywhere.
And are you actually stating that those who defend themselves are primitive and uncivilized?
