Statements like this sound like a desire from some
DFLers to avoid any accountability.
I'm not a DFLer, and I go to these conventions to
watch the circus. This one showed me again why it's a
real problem for Minneapolis being a one party town.
Many who are involved in the DFL in Minneapolis are
only in the DFL because that's the only avenue to have
an impact on city politicians.
I'd still like to see an effort to Draft Lisa McDonald
to run for Mayor. The city really needs someone of
her caliber. The two DFL choices don't seem to offer
any real choice for those concerned about fiscal
responsibility in the city.
When Greg Gray went to observe the Republican
convention in St Paul a few years back, he had every
right to do so. I told him I was disappointed that
Republican hacks decided to boot him.
The DFL built up some good cred during the state
elections last fall. The challenge for them will be
not to blow that cred in city elections this year.
