Kayla Smith Writes:

But the only thing I have learned so far is that there are several people that are taking any avenue possible to discredit and bash Don Samuels as well as the DFL party. Has anyone else picked up on this? I wish the actual candidates or campaign representatives would come forward to present real facts and issues instead of what I see as 'planted' postings that I am sure all posters will say they have no affiliation with the campaigns, some will be true, some will not be true.

Dennis Plante Responds:

Good question Kayla. Why the repeated and continuous attacks on CM Samuels, or the PEACE FOUNDATION? Is the PEACE FOUNDATION a BAD THING? What messages does it send to the comunity that this (and other readers) take offense to?

Two years ago, the PEACE FOUNDATION didn't even exist. Two weeks ago, it was able to form a human chain over a mle-long in the name of peace and in the spirit of increased opporunity for EVERYONE in our neighborhood. The event was truly about the neighbors in the neighborhood where it occurred. It wasn't about City politics. It wasn't about African American Politics. It was about community building.

How DARE an african american run for and get elected to the City Council AND have the audacity to take the iniative to form (and fnd funding for) a private-non-profit cimmunity organization whose express purpose is to promote PEACE and opportunity?

Some I suspect, will always find this offensive, as it would effectively put them out of a job. There's an old saying. "You are either part of the problem, or part of the solution".
