I did just come through Portland and 28th. There certainly is a lot of construction going on there - and dust and down to two lanes, etc. I guess I am not opposed to them working on Sunday because the work is so extensive in that area around the Midtown Exchange - however, that 7am start seems awful on a Sunday but they probably want to get out of there before it hits 90 degrees about 3:00 this afternoon.
Just a conjucture on my part.

Actually, we don't know the whole story, so we don't know if this work would
be permitted or not. If this work that is happening involves some type of
emergency utility repair, it is quite reasonable to be doing it on a Sunday.
We will know tomorrow.

Surely the most important task for all of us is to leave behind a planet
that is fit for our great grandchildren to live on. So all of our personal
actions, as well as our political policies, must be tempered with an eye to
long term sustainability, not short term profit or expediency. As we
struggle to solve the day to day problems -- crime, jobs, budget shortfalls,
homelessness, traffic congestion, and air quality, we will look to solutions
that serve both our immediate needs and lay the foundation for the
post-petroleum economy.
