Sorry, the Mayor has every right to talk about the achievement for more
police.
He has been working very hard with the legislature about the issues of our
city and
he was smart enough to know that extending the pensions would bring about
40-60 police not 200. He has made mistakes ..he has corrected them.
He also has a right to talk about bringing the city out of a financial
quagmire which
created many darts tossed his way. If due to his leadership, we get
acknowledged
in positive ways...so be it, He is our Mayor and is trying to convey
information
to the populace...let him have the coverage. Is there more work to be
done..yes.
but RT's term was not easy due to the debt that he inherited.
There is a group of people who would like to *take back the town.* Run it
like
the old days. We voted a few of those people out and perhaps a couple more
will go this year. We do not need a credit card mentality, we do not need
promises
that really can not be fulfilled. We do not need a government on the take
and
making backroom deals with select developers. We do not need the underhanded
way some of the city projects arrive before boards without discussion and
seem to
just slip through with nary a word.
We do need to work for a solution for homelessness along with securing
safety for all
residents of the city. We need to educate.
Dorie Gallagher/Nokomis
The latest example is the increase in police to be hired. When this looked
like it wouldn not happen he blamed the legislature. Now that the
legislature
made it happen, he takes credit for it, and oh yes a press conference
