In response to my earlier posting Ms. McLemore writes:
"In an earlier posting, Mr. Dombouy stated to Jim Graham: Odd you
didn't contact Councilmember Shiff [sic] and Councilmember Zimmermann
to solve this 6th Ward constituency problem--and leave Councilmember
Lilligren out of it.' Please re-read the original posting. Mr. Graham
clearly says he
attempted to contact both Council Member Zimmermann and Council
Member Lilligren (though I see no mention of Council Member Schiff)."
My misspelling of Councilmember Schiff's name is a faux pas I will
carry with me to the last hours of my life. But, what Ms. Wizard Marks
pointed out--and Ms. McLemore has failed to--is that Mr. Graham
consistently misspelled Councilmember Lilligren's name throughout his
posting and Ms. Marks wonders if that perhaps doesn't undercut his
professed admiration of Councilmember Lilligren. Misspelling names
does not insinuate disrespect or lack of admiration.
Indeed, I feel Councilmember Schiff is one of the most handsome, yet
capable, persons to have ever served on the Minneapolis City Council.
I think he compares favorably with such past, handsome, yet capable,
councilmembers such as Gladys Brooks, Walter Rockenstein, Alice
Rainville, Earl Netwal, Ed Felien (though maybe not so hippie-ish) and
Lisa McDonald (she having better coifed hair because she has more of
it).
This lustering Ninth Ward gem is perhaps the best councilmember whose
service at large to the City the Sixth Ward has ever had (with the
exception perhaps his allowance of the now emphirically-confirmed,
ugly, Minneapolis Institute of Art expansion). Nobody's perfect, but
Councilmember Schiff is pretty near.
And I see goodlooking, yet capable, City Councilmembers in the
wings--Aaron Neumann in the Third Ward has a certain thrilling vibrancy
about him and Kevin MacDonald (down there in Sandra Colvin Roy's old
ward) will show well on the cable access channel. (Cam Gordon is
handsome, but, perhaps, aware of it.)
Mr. Graham has promised me he will explain his peculiar behavior in
contacting Councilmember Lilligren with a constituenct problem out of
his respective Ward when he returns from the Lake of the Ozark.
