No, it doesn't irk me that others leave the original message attached. It irks me when writers delete the original message. I receive lots more messages every day than I can conceivably read and deal with. If the original message is not left attached, then I need to go hunting for the original so that I know what is being talked about. That is a very time consuming task. If the original is attached and I have already read it, I just don't re-read it--that is not a problem.
