- Passed resolution for Patron Privacy
- 20, 000 daily users / 350,000 registered borrowers
- Reference librarians available online 24hrs / 7
- Increased cooperation with the Friends of M P L
- Created Partnerships & Development office
- Completed a strategic planning process
- Hired a new dynamic Library Director
- Kept all community libraries open
- Adopted 3 year balanced budget process
- Conducted patron and employee surveys
- Explored mixed-use developments
- Successfully reached the midpoint in our renovations to our community
libraries.
Goals:
- Expand hours / focus on user-friendly hours
- Open the New Central Library on time & on budget (May 20, 2006)
- Create a long-term financial plan for the Library
- Increase partnerships with community organizations, the city, parks, &
schools.
- Advocate to restore LGA & increased revenues
- Maintain effective use of all tax dollars and private funds
- Participate in the planning of the new Minnesota Planetarium & Space
Discovery Center
- Increase advocacy and public awareness of library issues
- Explore new funding opportunities (fees, grants, tax revenue..)
- Improve staff morale and improve communications
- Link people with the transforming power of knowledge
