Gina penned: "Just out of curiosity-whats the name of the Laverne Turners non profit athletic program?"
The non-profit group is titled EPPSA - East Phillips Park Sports Association. They have been under seige by an apparently greedy Park-Board system that is in the process of giving away park land to private-schoolers, while denying use of park land to East-Phillips kids (unless they jump through a bunch of flaming hoops, and pay up seven times what the outfit is accustomed to paying - money the group doesn't currently have). Dave Shegstad and I are so upset about this travesty, we have both decided to serve on the EPPSA board, in hopes of making a difference. Are you asking about EPPSA because Gary Schiff, yourself, or someone else on your campaign committee wants to help out? It would be a splendid display of "non-partisanship" during an election cycle, don't you agree? Speaking strictly for myself, I would appreciate Gary's attempt at intervention in this situation. Gary is, after all, the would-be representative for East Phillips. A thus-far un-elected candidate (Shegstad) has stepped up, as well as myself. Dean Zimmerman, prior to redistricting (re-warding? ;) ), supported this athletic program (and from what I've heard, still does). Will Gary Schiff, who is hoping to be paid to represent East Phillips neighbors also pitch in? His assistance would be welcomed by myself, regardless of our past history, regardless of our opposing campaigns. This isn't politics. It's for the kids of East-Phillips. Anyone else interested in pitching in to help East-Phillips kids play football, please contact me off-list. My own personal opinion, Dan McGrath Longfellow http://www.shegstad.us REMINDERS: 1.
