Yup, Darrell did clear up the misinformation and I thanked him for it...

One person has already appointed/annointed himself to
represent the south area. This is the first formal
printed information that I have seen about it.
Interesting....
Dorie, I'm sorry that you haven't seen word of this yet. And I'm a bit
surprised. A write up about the 10-year transportation plan along with the
meeting notice was in the October Longfellow/Nokomis Messenger delivered
to
you on 9/29. The City's press release was first placed on your
neighborhood's website, http://www.nokomiseast.org, on 9/22. The dedicated
"Access Minnesota" page containing a summary of the plan, support
documentation, and a contact list of the steering committee/consultant
members was published 9/30 and last updated 10/4 - the day after receiving
the latest documents from the City. We haven't received minutes for the
Sept
meeting yet, but the Aug 2 minutes are up on our site.
I thank Darrell Gerber for pointing out that the Steering Committee is not
a
small, self anointed group. There are 29 regular members, 4 alternates,
and
at least 8 consultants and staff on the committee. The citizen reps were
appointed by the City Council and approved on July 1st (RESOLUTION
2005R-396).
The initial notice announcing the plan and asking for committee
applications
ran on the City's website and on www.nokomiseast.org for at least a month
prior to the application deadline.
I just don't know what else we could do to help you.
Hmmm. Perhaps you are thinking of the much smaller Station Area Master
Plan
committee that is being formed by CPED to work on a development plan for
the
50th St and VA station areas. Although that committee hasn't been formed
yet, the application form and cover letter were finalized on Friday and
will
be mailed out starting tomorrow, Monday, Oct 10. Let us know if you would
like a copy. The membership of this group, expected to be about 12 people,
will be appointed by CPED, the City Council and NENA.
You can look for more information and the application form for the Station
Area planning process on www.nokomiseast.org later this week. I'd get it
up
today, but family comes first--sorry.
Or feel free to stop by the office this week. After all, we're only a few
doors away from your house.
