How much taller we are when we stand on the shoulders of giants.
I attended the tour of the Wirth House this last Saturday along with
800-1000 others.
The contributions of Theodore Wirth and his family are more than interesting
history. Knowing about this important place is a real incentive to consider
the importance of planning and vision for our current Park Board.
As another example of how challenged the current Board majority has been in
looking after the best interests of Park users and those of us who love Park
History- there has been an unwillingness to look at a way of keeping this
building open for an interpretive center and museum.

I am an unabashed supporter of the work of the Minneapolis Park Legacy
Society. We have an opportunity to bring in additional resources to our park
system and continue to understand and record Park History. This is a win- win
situation that should be resolved and not put off for another 6 years.

The Stevens House-( which has been moved to its last two locations by
hundreds of school children pulling it by ropes)- is a perfect model of how to
structure an agreement of an historical site interpretive center.

Let's move forward and make sure that this was not the last opportunity to
tour the Wirth home.

Thanks,
Scott Vreeland Seward
candidate for park Board District # 3
